The dance recital is a big day each year. My youngest has been in dance for 4 years, so she is totally used to and in love with the recital. She gets so excited about the costumes and the music and everything. This year seemed even more important because it would be her last recital, at least for awhile. She has gotten more serious with gymnastics this year and made a special team. With the new team comes a new commitment, so for now, she is stopping with dance. So the last recital is a BIG DEAL!
Well, something new was thrown into the schedule this year. Kindergarten. Kindergarten graduation was the same time on the same night as the dance recital. The studio did what they could to try to change the schedule around but it just didn't work. The two things were at the same time and she was going to have to choose.
She thought about it. And she flipped back and forth a little. And in the end she went with graduation. She had a speaking part in the ceremony, had her own gap and gown that matched the seniors, and the daily practice at school made it an even bigger deal. But what was going to happen with the recital?
Well, her teacher, being awesome, told us that the dress rehearsal could be her recital. YAY! We had everyone come to the rehearsal. Her hair was perfect. Her makeup was beautiful. She had her audience, cameras and video all on her. And she was happy because this made it so she could do both events.
Plus, I got pictures!!
